In case you still have some natural and healthy teeth, there is always the possibility to form aesthetic artificial dentures to complete your smile. Usually, the remaining teeth will be crowned and missing teeth are replaced by removable partial prosthesis.
The removable denture is attached to the remaining anchor teeth by using a variety of connection technologies. It is, however, sometimes recommended to use telescopic (German) crowns instead.
If the remaining natural teeth are no longer suitable to perform anchor points for the partial dentures, then amazing results can be achieved by using dental implants.
The picture of a grandma who cannot properly speak because of a wacky Prosthesis has been dusted. Modern dental technology is totally capable of producing fully fitted and a rock solid prostheses which are almost impossible to distinguish from natural teeth.
Generally, the base for the prosthesis is made from gum coloured plastic fitted with industry made plastic teeth.
A full prosthesis is placed straight onto the mucosa of the jaw so that the chewing pressure is directly transferred. It is held by the negative pressure and capillary strength between prosthesis and mucosa together with stability caused by muscles, tongue, lips, cheeks and bite.
In order to produce a perfectly fitted prosthesis it is essential to take an accurate negative of your dentures and bite movement.
