Going to another country to get dental work done can be intimidating and dental work in itself might not be on your list of pleasant things to do. But we do all that we can to make it as much of a positive experience as possible. Speaking to the BBC, Bill Hunter told of how he paid less than half the cost he would have in the UK, saving himself £12,000 in the process. Nancy Carothers, speaking to USA Today, reported an even more impressive saving. Her $2900 price tag was less than a quarter of the price quoted to her in the USA.
Now that Hungary is a full member of the E.U., patients are not only covered by the stringent Hungarian laws covering dental treatment, they also benefit from the E.U.'s renowned consumer's rights legislation.
Take the example of dental implants, one of the most popular solutions for missing teeth. A titanium screw replaces the old root and a naturally looking crown is attached to perfectly replicate the missing tooth. Unlike bridgework, implants do not affect the surrounding teeth. Integrated into the jaw, they avoid the gum problems and bone loss that can accompany a bridge or dentures.
Most local patients can return to work the same day as the procedure is carried out. This speed can be particularly beneficial for dental tourists, as they can save on the added travel costs of having to return to their chosen clinic a few months down the line for a fitting.

In the unlikely event of a failure of the laboratory work FlyDent has agreed to meet the cost of the travelling and hotel accommodation expenses (meals are not included) of the patient for an additional trip to Budapest to carry out any remedial work. FlyDent will also cover all necessary dental and laboratory costs to rectify the problem. In the case of small adjustments you can use a dentist in your own country and forward your bill to FlyDent for reimbursement. FlyDent allocates 30.00 Euros for such repairs as re-cementing crowns, denture or partial denture adjustment.
FlyDent is not liable for any unforeseen root canal treatment after having tooth/teeth prepared for crown & bridgework. Occasionally, teeth suffer preparation trauma during crown & bridgework treatment resulting in a need for a root canal treatment afterwards.
- If oral hygiene is neglected
- If the dentists instructions are not followed (for example, not to wear the dentures during the night)
- If removable restoration such as partials dentures or full dentures are not kept and maintained properly
- If the patient does not visit a dentist for a routine check-up at least once a year
- If the gum tissue or teeth bone is naturally reducing
- Accidental damage, for example dropping dentures
- If the patient loses or gains a substantial amount of weight during a short period of time
- If there is a general sickness occurring that has negative effects on the dental condition (for example diabetes, epilepsy, osteoporosis, condition after x-rays or chemotherapy)
- If the patient does not notify FlyDent prior to exercising their guarantee
